In mid-June, Serbia will conduct the Platinum Wolf exercise along with the United States and other partner countries, Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said on B92 TV.

“In mid-June, in the south of Serbia, there will be exercises by the US army, Serbia and 10 Platinum Wolf partner countries. These are the largest military maneuvers on the territory of Serbia, and there is no secret about this … This is a public decision of the Serbian government, which approved these maneuvers two weeks ago,” lead the words of the Minister of RIA Novosti.

At the Ministry of Defense of Serbia in response to a request from TASS clarifiedthat the exercises will be held from 16 to 30 June. The ministry added that the country maintained a moratorium on international military exercises, but the Platinum Wolf maneuvers were an exception.

“The purpose of these exercises is to maintain the achieved level of interoperability of Serbian army units to participate in multinational operations. We remind you that the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia dated February 27, 2022, which terminates and postpones all activities related to exercises with foreign partners, is still in force,” the Ministry of Defense specified.

In March became knownthat the Royal Navy has opened a new Arctic operating base in northern Norway. Camp Viking, located in the village of Everbygd near the Norwegian city of Tromsø, will be a center for Royal Marines commandos and can house all personnel of the British Coastal Response Group (LRG). Also near the camp are the base of the Norwegian armed forces and the air base of the helicopter commando forces in Bardufoss.

During the winter, some 1,000 commandos arrived at Camp Viking to conduct exercises with NATO allies and the Joint Expeditionary Force. Major Kirk Allen, UK Winter Deployment Commander, noted that Camp Viking is “a focal point for mountain and cold weather warfare training” and has been placed as a forward operating base in support of NATO operations.
