Senegalese opposition leader took over as prime minister in the country’s new government
49-year-old Senegalese opposition leader Ousmane Sonko took over as prime minister in the country’s new government shortly after his ally, Bassirou Diomai Fay, became Senegal’s president.
How reports Associated Press Former tax inspector Sonko has vowed to ensure greater government transparency and Senegal’s sovereignty. Sonko is a popular opposition figure who came third in the previous presidential election in 2019 and asked Fai to run in his place after he was barred from running due to a previous conviction.
