Senators will meet after the message of the President exclusively on the case

Senators unexpectedly adjusted the work schedule. In particular, the Federation Council (SF) postponed its next “scheduled” meeting on March 1 to February 22, i.e. now the upper house of parliament will meet on an extraordinary basis the day after President Vladimir Putin addresses the Federal Assembly with a message. If the Federation Council meets on February 22, then its work on that day will actually be synchronized with the work of the State Duma: only after the laws are adopted by the lower house, they are approved by the senators and they are signed by the president.
Officially, two issues are now on the agenda – amendments to the Tax and Budget Codes, the Federation Council emphasizes. So far, senators have not been warned that along with these bills, any other issues, such as personnel issues, will be included in the agenda, says a source in the upper house of parliament. For example, he notes, while consultations on the appointment of a person to the post of chairman of the Accounts Chamber, which has been vacant for two months, are on pause. The fact that there are no other issues on the agenda is confirmed by Vyacheslav Timchenko, head of the Committee on Regulations and Organization of Parliamentary Activities.
