Senator of the Federation Council from the Nizhny Novgorod region Vladimir Lebedev died at the age of 61, regional governor Gleb Nikitin said in Telegram. The cause of death has not been reported.
“The senator from the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Vladimir Albertovich Lebedev, died… He was very young. I just had my 60th anniversary. Energetic. We met and discussed plans the other day,” Mr. Nikitin wrote.
Vladimir Lebedev was born on April 23, 1962 in Belarus. In 1997, he was appointed deputy general director of CJSC Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorod, and later became director of development. Since 1998, he has worked in management positions at OJSC Nizhnovenergo. In 2004, he took the position of first deputy chairman of the government of the Kirov region.
In 2009, Mr. Lebedev was elected to the post of deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, overseeing housing and communal services and energy issues. In mid-2012, he became Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia. On April 15, 2013, he became the head of Rosleskhoz. He was delegated from the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region to the Federation Council in September 2014, and became deputy chairman of the upper house of parliament committee on agrarian and food policy and environmental management.
