In 2022, 2,621 advanced manufacturing technologies (ATPs) were developed in the Russian Federation, 20% more than a year earlier, according to the Institute for Statistical Research and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. Let us clarify that AMT for the purposes of statistical observation is considered to be technologies and processes (including the equipment necessary for their implementation) controlled by a computer or based on microelectronics and used in the design, production or processing of products.

Nearly a third of BCAs (29.5%) are solutions for manufacturing, processing, transportation and assembly. About 20% are design and engineering technologies. New production systems account for 12.7% in the structure of APT, industrial computing and big data technologies – 12.1%.

The ISSEK notes that over the past five years, scientific organizations and universities have made a significant contribution to the renewal and development of the technological base of industry. In total, during this time they developed 4.5 thousand APT, or 45.4% of their total number. At the same time, scientific organizations in 2022 offered 5% fewer advanced solutions than in 2018 (491 and 518, respectively), while universities increased the number of APTs they created by 2.2 times (up to 661 from 299). On the other hand, scientific organizations offer more unique solutions – their share of AMT, which have no analogues in the world, is higher than that of universities. The maximum value for five years was observed in 2019. Then fundamentally new technologies in the total number of APT developed by scientific organizations amounted to 28.6%. In 2022, this figure dropped to 16.5%.

As the ISSEK explained to Kommersant, since the state pays considerable attention to the development of university science, this could not but affect the creation of new technologies. As for the development of new solutions (especially unique ones), this process is non-linear, creative and dependent on many factors, the ISSEK noted. Recall that in order to achieve technological sovereignty, the White House expects to deploy in the Russian Federation the development of priority technologies, now, as noted when adopting the “Concept of Technological Development of the Russian Federation until 2030”, their development is hindered by the gap between science and production (for more details, see “Kommersant” dated 26 May).
