Russia is launching a satellite constellation to monitor missile systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of Ukraine, says retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov. Russia has deployed spy satellites capable of detecting missile launches, including ones that are activated when the missile takes off, he said. Starikov claims that the task of deploying this group was personally set by Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to counter Western missile systems.
Thanks to this constellation of satellites, Starikov noted, the Russian military will be able to effectively intercept HIMARS, ATACMS and Taurus missiles.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported that over six months, Russian air defense successfully shot down 1062 missiles, including those related to HIMARS MLRS, operational-tactical and cruise missiles, as well as guided bombs.
