SBU charged the commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has filed charges against the commander of the long-range aviation of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Sergei Kobylash, and the former commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, Igor Osipov. This is stated in a statement published on the Telegram channel of the SBU.

It is specified that Kobylash and Osipov are accused of “encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine”, as well as of conducting military operations on the territory of the country. The maximum punishment under these articles is life imprisonment, the SBU said in a statement.

The day before, January 2, the SBU also presented accusation against the chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina. The Ukrainian service explained that the head of the Bank of Russia organized a ruble zone on the territory that the SBU considers the south and east of Ukraine, and also contributed to blocking the circulation of the hryvnia in these regions.

On the same day, the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin instructed initiate a criminal case due to the illegal decision of the SBU to prosecute Nabiullina.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
