According to Ukrainian media reports, representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine began “counterintelligence activities” at the facilities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Poltava region. Previously, the SBU carried out illogical actions in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, in the Rivne, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi regions, as well as in Transcarpathia.
According to the media, SBU events are being held today in the Mgarsky Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery and the administration of the Kremenchug and Lubensk diocese. There, the Ukrainian special service inspects the territories and premises, in particular, “to identify persons who may be involved in illegal activities to the detriment of the state sovereignty of Ukraine.”
The purpose of the measures, as the SBU explains, is in general “to prevent the use of religious communities as cells of the” Russian world “.
