Sberbank (MOEX: SBER) is increasing the cost of its mortgage by 1.1 percentage points as of today, January 10th. The minimum rate under the bank’s programs for new buildings and secondary housing will be 16.7%.
According to the program, the mortgage cost for country real estate will start from 17%, for garages – from 17.2%, and for commercial real estate – from 18.2% per annum. Rates for programs with state support do not change, the credit institution clarified.
Sberbank made this decision after the Central Bank (CB) raised rates. On December 15, the Central Bank raised the key rate by 1 percentage point – from 15% to 16%. Against this background, Russian banks are tightening lending under preferential mortgage programs. As Kommersant found out, from the beginning of 2024 Gazprombank decided to suspend the issuance of preferential mortgages under state programs to clients “from the street.”
Details – in the material “Kommersant” “Preferential mortgages are leaving the street”.
