Saudis may recognize Israel ahead of US presidential election

Before the upcoming US presidential election, the Saudi authorities may recognize Israel. Diplomatic talks between the US and Saudi Arabia have led to notable progress towards normalizing relations between Riyadh and Jerusalem.
Eli Cohen, Israeli Foreign Minister, expressed his confidence that rapprochement between Israel and Saudi Arabia is only a matter of time, highlighting the prospect of positive developments.
The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in the White House, reports that a possible agreement between the two countries could be reached within 9-12 months, before the US presidential election scheduled for 2024.
At the same time, it is specified that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is in no hurry to conclude an agreement, as he is waiting for additional concessions from the Israeli government on the Palestinian issue.
The long absence of diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia is due to disagreements in the Palestinian settlement. Riyadh advocates an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while Israel supports the annexation of Jewish settlements in the occupied territories and opposes the division of Jerusalem.
