The Sarmat strategic missile system with the intercontinental ballistic missile of the same name has been put on experimental combat duty in the Uzhur formation of the Strategic Missile Forces, a source said TASS in the rocket and space industry. In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced deployment of launchers of the Sarmat missile system. On June 21, the president announced that the Sarmatians would soon go on combat duty. In September, General Director of the Roscosmos state corporation Yuri Borisov statedthat the missile system has already been put on combat duty. However, he did not provide any details; the Russian Ministry of Defense did not comment on this.
