Moldovan President Maia Sandu has nominated Dorin Recean, her adviser for security and defense, secretary of the Supreme Security Council, as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister, she announced this at a briefing.
“I signed a decree appointing Dorin Recean as a candidate for the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova. A new government team will be created in the near future,” – leads her words to the news portal Publika.md.
The new government, Sandu added, will have to improve the country’s security, continue to clean up the judiciary, and focus on reviving the economy. In accordance with the legislation of Moldova, a candidate for the post of prime minister will have to present his team and program to the parliament, after which he will receive a majority of votes. Rechan himself, the portal notes, said that if approved by the parliament, the main principles of the work of his government will be integration into the European Union, order and discipline in state institutions, as well as economic development.
Former Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilitsa, Deputy Prime Minister of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party informed resigning today. This decision automatically entails the resignation of the entire government. Gavrilitsa, who assumed the post of prime minister in August 2021, noted that all this time the Cabinet of Ministers has been working in a “continuous crisis” mode and against the backdrop of “energy blackmail”. The reasons for this decision are not given.
