Moldovan President Maia Sandu made a statement that Chisinau considers the decision of the Russian company Gazprom to reduce gas supplies to the republic as a political one.
Speaking to journalists, Sandu said that Moldova has always paid for gas consumption.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu said that the volume of Russian gas supplies to the country fell first to 70 and then to 51 percent of the required. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that accusations of using gas supplies as an “energy weapon” against Moldova are unfounded.
