Sandu accused “Prigozhin’s team” of preparing a coup in Moldova

President of Moldova Maia Sandu said in an interview with the Financial Times about the available information that the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, allegedly planned to stage a coup in the republic this year.

“It was a plan prepared by his team,” she said.

In addition, Sandu accused Russia of trying to interfere in local elections using “a large amount of money,” but did not provide any evidence. Let us recall that the Russian Foreign Ministry previously resolutely rejected Chisinau’s assertions about the existence of some kind of Russian plan to destabilize the situation in Moldova.

Sandu stated back in March that Moldovan intelligence services had prevented a coup attempt and claimed that Russia was allegedly preparing new plans to change the Moldovan government.
