SANA: Israel fired missiles at two cities in Syria

Israel fired rockets at territories around the cities of Tartus and Hama in Syria, wounding three soldiers, informs SANA agency, citing a military source.

Israel launched an air attack around 7:15 am, with rockets fired from northern Lebanon, the agency was told. Syrian air defense systems shot down part of the missiles. As a result of the attack, three soldiers were injured, and material damage was also caused, the source added.

On March 7, as a result of an Israeli air strike, the airport in the city of Aleppo in Syria stopped working. How wrote Reuters, citing Western intelligence sources, the attack on the airport was aimed at delivering Iranian weapons, which was carried out under the guise of delivering humanitarian aid and transporting earthquake victims.

In recent months, Reuters noted, Israeli strikes on Syrian airports and air bases have become more frequent. This is explained by the intention of Tel Aviv to disrupt the Iranian supply chains through which Tehran supplies its allies in Syria and Lebanon, including the local Hezbollah, which also has political influence in Lebanon. According to the plans of the Israeli military, in this way they will be able to prevent Iran from gaining a foothold in Syria.

Now pro-Iranian groups, led by the Lebanese Hezbollah, control a number of territories in the east, southeast and northwest of Syria, as well as several suburbs of Damascus. The Assad government does not officially recognize the presence of pro-Iranian militants in Syria, saying that Tehran is helping Damascus only with military advisers.
