Sales of drugs for potency and contraceptives increased in Russia

In Russia, sales of contraceptives, drugs to increase potency and drugs for erectile dysfunction have grown, follows from a study by the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies. According to experts, with the current demand, a shortage of medicines is not expected.
According to the research results that RBC, from July to September, Russians purchased 88% more packages of drugs to increase potency (2.7 million) compared to the same period last year. Also, in the third quarter, Russian citizens bought 4 million packs of contraceptives, which is 11% more than in 2021.
During these three months, Russians spent 2.1 billion rubles on funds for erectile dysfunction. Compared to last year, their costs increased by 75%.
The experts found that, on average, 558 packages of drugs to increase potency were used per 10,000 adult men living in Russia. The maximum sales volume was recorded in the Krasnodar Territory, St. Petersburg, the Moscow Region, the Kamchatka Territory and Moscow.
Among the leading regions in sales of contraceptives are the Amur Region, Karelia, the Trans-Baikal Territory, as well as the Murmansk and Sverdlovsk Regions. On average, 976 packs of contraceptives were sold per 10,000 adult women in Russia. At the same time, in the Amur Region, the figure is almost two times higher than the average – 1798 packages.
Analysts of the center note that with such a demand in Russia, contraceptives will last for six months, and stocks of drugs to increase potency – more than a year.
Since the beginning of the year, the demand for condoms has decreased by about 16.5% in pharmacies and by more than 6% in retail chains. At the same time, sales of alternative contraceptives in pharmacies and marketplaces increased. According to DSM Group experts, in this way citizens are trying to save money amid falling incomes.
