Sales of books about the gaming industry at liters increased by 20% year-on-year

According to the liters service, which was reviewed by Kommersant, in the literature segment about the gaming industry, from January 1 to October 31, there was a 20% increase in unit sales compared to the same period last year.
The most popular book was “Game Design. How to Create a Game Everyone Will Play by Jesse Schell. In it, the author shares professional secrets and discusses how to make a high-quality game. In second place is the programming guide “Make a Video Game Alone and Don’t Go Crazy” by developer Slava Gris. The top 3 is completed by the work of Natalia Andriyanova and Svetlana Yakovleva “How to create stories. Fundamentals of game writing and narrative design in 12 steps.”
Online schools actively advertise game design courses, testers and developers, with the main promotion coming from popular channels about video games, notes Elena Tarasova, non-fiction editor of the liters group of companies: “The state also makes a significant contribution to the development of the field through constant investments.” All this stimulates an increase in interest in the topic, the expert believes.
As Kommersant learned, the Ministry of Digital Development previously prepared a list of Russian developments and services that it considers an acceptable analogue of foreign developments in the field of video games. The document also mentions video game publications and portfolio creation services as part of the “IT landscape.”
