German OBI filed a lawsuit against its former subsidiary in Russia

The German company OBI GmbH filed a lawsuit in the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Region against the former Russian subsidiary OBI FC LLC, should from the court file.
The statement of claim was submitted to the court on November 9. The details of the case have not been disclosed, and the lawsuit has not yet been accepted.
In March 2022, OBI, against the backdrop of a special operation that had begun, announced the cessation of activities in Russia, but Russian management refused to close stores. At the end of July 2022, the network was sold to the MAX group of investment and construction companies. Subsequently, the retail chain changed owners three more times. Now OBI belongs to JSC Allong, its founders are not disclosed.
In August 2023 Vedomosti wrotethat OBI FC LLC has applied to register the Domus brand. One of the company’s partners explained that, according to the terms of the agreement with OBI GmbH, the new owners are obliged to rename hypermarkets in Russia. According to him, they should have done this within six months after signing the agreement (it was concluded in the summer of 2022), but the process dragged on.
