Saboteur detained in Belarus admits working for SBU

A citizen of Russia and Ukraine, who was previously detained in Belarus on suspicion of trying to blow up a Russian A-50 early warning and control aircraft, acted on instructions from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The detainee stated this during the interrogation, transmits TASS.

“I worked with the SBU, [город] Kyiv,” he said.

The detainee’s name is Nikolai Shvets, he was born in 1993.

The KGB of Belarus, in turn, declaredthat the involvement in the organization of the terrorist attack of the operational staff and the leadership of the SBU was established. In the preparation of the attack were involved, among other things, “fugitive Belarusians” who advocate the overthrow of power.

“The system of recruitment by the special services of Ukraine of its own citizens to commit acts of terrorism on the territory of foreign states has been opened, cover organizations have been established that were used to train and educate them,” they said.

Earlier today, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko informed on the arrest of a terrorist and more than 20 of his accomplices who tried to destroy the A-50 at the Machulishchi airfield near Minsk on February 26. According to Lukashenka, the detainee is a citizen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, in 2014 he was recruited by the SBU. The operation began to be developed six to eight months ago.

The sabotage was carried out using a small drone, as a result of which the A-50 received a hole in the hull and scratches. According to Lukashenko, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky could not not know about the preparation of sabotage.

The Belarusian leader noted that the incidents at the airfield near Minsk and in the Bryansk region are “links in the same chain.” In his opinion, Kyiv is doing this “to demonstrate to the West what they are still capable of” and to receive new assistance from Western countries.
