Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said he was “poisoned by Russian agents.” His words are quoted by Politico.
According to Saakashvili, Russian agents “infiltrated the Georgian security services.”
“I distinctly remember the day I was injected with poison, I almost died. Since then, my health has been poor,” he says.
The politician added that since his arrest in October 2021, he has lost half his weight. Previously, he weighed 120 kilograms, now 60.
“In the institution where I am, the main decisions about treatment are made by the security services, not by the doctors – they appoint the entire medical staff,” he complained.
Recall that Saakashvili in Georgia is accused of illegally crossing the border. In addition, in 2018, he was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison for exceeding his official powers in the case of an attack on Georgian parliamentarian Valery Gelashvili. He was also suspected of involvement in the death of the country’s Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, embezzlement of public funds and some other crimes.
