S7 Airlines has re-registered 45 foreign aircraft as Russian property and completed a deal to resolve disputes with foreign lessors. Earlier, Ural Airlines completed a similar deal for 19 aircraft.
“In accordance with the agreements reached, lessors, including AerCap, ALC, SMBC Aviation Capital, ceased their claims against Russian parties both under insurance policies and under lease agreements for these aircraft,” it says message S7 on the company website.
The carrier’s press service clarified that the aircraft converted into Russian ownership account for almost half of the company’s entire fleet. Disputes have been settled, including regarding four aircraft engines. The total amount of the transaction, according to Interfax, was about 45–50 billion rubles.
IN message Ural Airlines indicated that all 19 re-registered aircraft were manufactured by Airbus. In September, the carrier’s general director Sergei Skuratov said that the airline plans to spend about $900 million on the purchase of leased aircraft. Part of this amount, according to him, was borrowed from the state in the form of a loan for 15 years.
According to the Ministry of Transport, Russia due to sanctions lost 76 passenger aircraft. According to Kommersant sources, on November 16, the State Transport Leasing Company abandoned its previously announced plans to increase the leasing rate for 37 GTLK Europe aircraft by 30%. Most of these airliners are used by Aeroflot, Rossiya, S7, Aurora and Yamal.
