Ryanair and Boeing signed a record contract for the supply of 737 Max – Kommersant

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair announced on the signing of a contract for the supply of 150 Boeing 737 Max 10 aircraft. At the same time, the agreement provides for an option to supply another 150 aircraft of this model.

Ryanair will receive 228-seat 737 Max 10s from the American manufacturer, which have not yet been certified by regulators. Deliveries of the first 150 aircraft are expected in 2027-2033. These aircraft are to replace older Boeing models currently in Ryanair’s fleet.

Based on the prices listed in the Boeing catalog, the purchase of 300 737 Max 10 aircraft could cost the buyer $40 billion. The companies did not specify at what price these aircraft would be sold to Ryanair. At the same time, the message of the Irish carrier specifies that this is a record-breaking order in the history of the company.

The companies have been negotiating the purchase of aircraft for more than two years. In the fall of 2021, they were even suspended due to significant disagreements between the parties on the purchase price. “From our point of view, aircraft are never too cheap, and from Boeing’s point of view, they are always too cheap,” Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said during a press conference. Nevertheless, the parties eventually managed to reach a compromise.
