Russia’s external debt has decreased by $33 billion (8.75%) since the beginning of 2023, Central Bank. As of July 1, the figure was $347.7 billion, the lowest since 2006.

According to the regulator, the dynamics of the indicator is associated with a reduction in sector liabilities for debt instruments, including direct investment. These processes are partly related to the mechanism for issuing replacement bonds.

In addition, the decline in public debt was affected by a decrease in the debt of state administration bodies. This happened due to the sale of securities by non-residents.

In 2006, the external debt of the Russian Federation amounted to 313.2 billion rubles, and in the first quarter of 2007 it increased to $355.6 billion. has reached values ​​below 2007 in the first quarter of 2023 – $ 354 billion. Russia’s external debt for 2022 decreased by $ 101.81 billion.
