Russia’s external debt fell by $100.4 billion over the year

$381.8 billion was Russia’s external debt, follows from the assessment of the Bank of Russia as of January 1, 2023. Since the beginning of 2022, public debt has decreased by 20.8% ($100.4 billion).
“The dynamics of the indicator is largely due to a decrease in the external debt of other sectors on loans,” explains site Central Bank.
As of January 1, 2022, Russia’s external debt was $482.077 billion, at the beginning of the fourth quarter last year – $ 436.8 billion. In March, the Ministry of Finance installed a special procedure for servicing external debts through the conversion of rubles, a similar mechanism was introduced in relation to Eurobond obligations.
