Russians abroad will be able to receive pensions only on ruble accounts

Russians living abroad will be able to receive pensions, other payments and provision for compulsory social insurance to accounts in Russian banks or ruble accounts in banks located outside of Russia, follows from a government decree. According to the document, payments are made on the basis of the application of the recipient of payments.
After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, a number of countries imposed sanctions against Russia, including against the Russian banking sector. Due to the sanctions, the bank cards of Russians Visa and Mastercard, on which they received social benefits abroad, were no longer served abroad.
In August 2022, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a resolution that citizens of retirement age living abroad will be able to receive pensions from local banks, including those from hostile countries.
