Russian woman detained in Germany on suspicion of preparing a coup d’état

In Germany, 25 people were detained on suspicion of preparing a coup d’état. Among them there is a citizen of Russia, reported in the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Germany.
“Early this morning (December 7, 2022), federal prosecutors arrested 22 alleged members and three alleged supporters of a terrorist organization based on arrest warrants issued by an investigating judge of the Federal Supreme Court,” the report said. Among the detainees is a Russian woman, Vitalia B.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the suspects are members and supporters of a terrorist organization that was created in 2021. Their goal was to “overthrow the existing political system in Germany,” the department said. They also noted that the arrested were aware that the coup d’état would require an armed seizure of power and forceful methods, including the commission of murders.
According to the German Prosecutor General’s Office, one of the suspects tried to establish contact with representatives of the Russian Federation in Germany. At the same time, the investigation has no evidence that the Russian side supported the conspirators.
It is specified that the Russian woman is suspected of helping members of a terrorist group to contact representatives of the Russian Federation. In addition, individual members of the organization are suspected of preparing an armed attack on the German Bundestag.
The Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the searches took place in 11 federal states of Germany. In relation to another 27 suspected of participating or supporting this organization, investigations are ongoing, the department stressed.
