Russian security proposals remain relevant
[ad_1]
A little over a year ago, on December 15, 2021, Russia handed over to the United States drafts of a treaty on security guarantees and an agreement on measures to ensure the security of Russia and NATO countries. Two days later, on December 17, 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry published draft treaties on its official website.
In particular, they contained the rejection of NATO expansion to the east, including Ukraine, and the return of the alliance’s military infrastructure to the state that existed at the time of 1997 – the first round of the alliance’s expansion. The refusal to meet all Russian demands was the prologue to the current crisis in international relations.
