Special divisions of river assault boats will appear as part of the new marine divisions of the Russian Armed Forces, the newspaper reports. “News” with reference to its own sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The exact organizational structure of the divisions and the types of boats that will enter service with the Marines are not disclosed. According to the newspaper’s interlocutors, the formations being created will include assault boats, fire support boats and amphibious transporters. In addition, these divisions will also form special assault units for operations on land.
All this, according to experts interviewed by the publication, is aimed at helping Russian marines to be more mobile and autonomous during combat operations, including in the zone of the military operation in Ukraine.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian marines will also be equipped with “Super Kalashnikovs” – AK-12 assault rifles. The military personnel of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) and the Black Sea Fleet (BSF) were the first to adopt them. The assault rifles were tested by the “black berets” of the peacekeeping battalion of the Pacific Fleet, currently serving in Nagorno-Karabakh.
