Russian-Israeli reconnaissance drone turned into a bomber

Photos of the Russian tactical drone “Forpost-R” in an attack version appeared on social networks. The drone is interesting for its “Israeli origin.” In 2009, a batch of IAI Searcher reconnaissance drones was purchased from Israel, then the countries agreed on licensed assembly of drones in Russia, and then, thanks to import substitution, the Russified version of Forpost-R was born. Now the reconnaissance drone has turned into a mini-bomber; it carries two adjustable 20-kilogram KAB-20S laser-guided bombs.
Previously, reconnaissance work of “Forpost-R” was repeatedly recorded in the Northern Military District zone, which successfully aimed high-precision artillery ammunition “Krasnopol” at the objects and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These drones were used to record the results of high-precision air and missile strikes.
Military expert Ilya Kramnik proposed using the Forpst-R reconnaissance capabilities to monitor the water surface and detect naval drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Black Sea to quickly identify targets approaching the waters of Sevastopol.
According to experts, drones such as Forpost-R can radically improve the awareness of our troops about what is happening in the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. But there should be many such drones.
Thanks to modifications, Forpost-R has become a carrier of guided bombs. There is a video online of its destruction by bombs from the Grad rocket system of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The drone, which is located at a high altitude, recorded the launch of rockets and aimed its bombs exactly at the launcher.
A high-precision guided bomb weighing 20 kg is a fairly powerful weapon. It can even hit protected armored vehicles, such as a tank. For comparison, a typical kamikaze drone charge has a mass of 2-3 kg.
The take-off weight of Forpost-R is under 500 kg. It can carry a payload weighing 100 kg. Speed – up to 200 km/h. Range – up to 400 km. Can stay in the air for up to 18 hours at an altitude of up to 6 km.
