The use of depleted uranium ammunition in Ukraine will make it uninhabitable, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
Her words are given in an article on the site kp.ru.
“Because of the supply of radioactive and highly toxic British and American depleted uranium ammunition, Ukraine is turning into an uninhabitable land,” Zakharova noted, adding that contamination of the soil with radiation is already observed using objective means of control.
She also noted that the results of the use of such weapons can be felt by the Poles. Zakharova recalled that in May, after the explosions in the Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine, a significant increase in radiation was noted in the border areas. She attributed this to the fact that ammunition with depleted uranium was stored in the depots destroyed by the Russian Armed Forces.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that even after a general decrease in the radiation background, the soil in the surrounding areas will be contaminated.
She called on the people of Ukraine to realize that under the guise of depleted uranium ammunition, they receive a “guarantee of cancerous tumors.” Zakharova also urged Ukraine to demand the removal of such ammunition from its territory as soon as possible.
