Russian Foreign Ministry: there are no prerequisites for negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine

Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Vershinin, in an interview with journalists, was skeptical about the possibility of holding talks on a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
According to the diplomat, for such discussions, the Ukrainian authorities, as well as their curators in the West, must have political will, which at the moment neither the first nor the second have.
“There is no talk of a ‘dialogue’ in Ukrainian initiatives at all. The UN, in fact, is assigned the role of a ‘screen’ for Kyiv’s plans, which have nothing to do with the search for peace… There is outright hypocrisy,” Vershinin said.
