The Russian embassy in Iran published a commentary after reports of explosions at one of the country’s Defense Ministry facilities in Isfahan and incidents in other cities, there were no Russians among the victims, the embassy said in a statement.
The Iranian Defense Ministry on Sunday reported an “unsuccessful attack” by drones on one of the department’s production facilities in the city of Isfahan. Explosions in one of the central cities of the republic occurred on the evening of January 28
“One of them was shot down by an air defense system, while the other two fell into defensive traps and exploded,” the IRNA agency wrote, citing a statement from the agency. According to him, as a result of the drone attack, the roof of the workshop was damaged, and the attack did not lead to human casualties and equipment failure.
The Russian embassy in Tehran said that they are guided by the official statement of the Iranian Defense Ministry. “We are carefully analyzing media reports about similar incidents in other cities of Iran. We are in constant contact with the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Rasht and Isfahan, as well as other Russian organizations. There were no reports of casualties among Russian citizens,” the statement said. They added that all Russian foreign missions in Iran are operating normally.
As writes Al Arabiya, Israel has previously accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons, Tehran denies these plans. The defense ministry’s statement comes as efforts to revive the Iranian nuclear deal have “stalled for months,” the newspaper notes.
