Diplomat Ovechko: Japan continues to dispute the results of the world war
Japan has not yet come to terms with the results of the World War and continues to challenge them. This was announced by Charge d’Affaires of Russia in Japan, Acting Head of the Diplomatic Mission Gennady Ovechko during a speech at a flower-laying ceremony at the grave of Richard Sorge on the anniversary of the start of World War II.
“Japan has not reconciled itself to the results of World War II, continues to challenge them, putting forward illegal and unacceptable territorial claims to the southern Kuriles,” the diplomat said.
Ovechko added that it is necessary to remember the feat of the heroes of that time and honor their memory for the sake of historical truth.
Employees of the Embassy and Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Japan laid flowers on the Day of Five and Sorrow at the grave of Soviet intelligence officer Richard Sorge.
