Russian Defense Ministry announces joint Russian-Syrian exercises

Joint Russian-Syrian military exercises will begin on July 5 in Syria. Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in the Syrian Arab Republic (CPVS), spoke about this.
As a representative of the Russian Defense Ministry said, during the maneuvers, it is planned to work out joint actions of aviation, forces and means of air defense and electronic warfare in repelling air strikes.
In total, the exercises will last six days, Gurinov specified.
A day earlier, on July 3, Russian and Syrian Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Faisal Mikdad exchanged views on topical issues on the regional agenda during a telephone conversation. Mikdad confirmed Russia’s support for its ongoing special military operation in Ukraine. Also brought up for discussion situation in and around Syria. Lavrov stressed the importance of the May decision on the restoration of Syrian rights in the League of Arab States and the impact of this event on processes in the Middle East and North Africa.
