Antonov: US intimidated World War II veterans who expressed a desire to go to Moscow for Victory Day
The US authorities intimidated American veterans of World War II, who expressed a desire to go to Moscow on Victory Day, threatening to cancel their passports. This was announced by the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.
“For the second year in a row, the efforts of the US administration disrupted the trip of American participants in World War II to the Victory Parade. Unprecedented pressure was put on front-line soldiers,” the Russian diplomat said.
According to him, US veterans have been waiting for a very long time to come to Moscow for the parade. Antonov believes that Washington has deprived its citizens of their dreams by not letting them into Russia.
The Russian ambassador believes that such a decision by the American leadership is “insulting not only for veterans” who fought against Nazism, but also for everyone “who remembers the sacred feat.”
