Armed clashes in Khartoum (Sudan) continue, said Russian Ambassador to the Republic Andrei Chernovol. He noted that their overall intensity has decreased since the beginning of the conflict.
“The fighting continues, they are local in nature. Their overall intensity is much lower than it was in the first days of the conflict,” Chernovol said (quote according to TASS).
April 23 diplomat informedthat the desire to evacuate from Sudan to the Russian Embassy was confirmed by 140 out of about 300 people. He stressed that the list is growing not at the expense of Russian citizens, “they have all already decided”, but at the expense of citizens of the CIS and “some other countries.” Then Chernovol toldthat almost all Russians who were in the war zone in the capital were evacuated to the Russian embassy.
On the same day, the Sudan Civil Aviation Authority extended until April 30, the closure of airspace amid ongoing hostilities in the country.
Since April 15, full-scale battles have been going on in Sudan using all available weapons. The conflict broke out between the armed forces and the so-called Operational Support Forces (RSF, numbering more than 40,000 people, armed with armored personnel carriers and artillery), a group created on the basis of Arab militias. April 19 parties concluded a truce, but a few hours later the clashes continued.
