Presenting the International Women of Courage Award to Yulia Paevskaya of the nationalist Azov Regiment at the White House is a glorification of Nazism and a disgrace. This opinion was shared by the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, commenting on the past ceremony.
“It’s a shame. It doesn’t fit in my head that the Nazis can be honored within the walls of the White House,” the diplomat emphasized, quoted by the press service of the embassy.
He explained that Paevskaya, with the call sign Tyra, is “a Ukrainian terrorist thug whose hands are stained with the blood of old men, women and children.”
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, said on Sunday at a briefing about the strike on the command post of the Ukrainian volunteer regiment “Azov” (the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia).
