The situation in the US information field on the eve of the NATO summit in Vilnius, which will begin on July 11, is heating up, public opinion is being prepared to approve the adoption of anti-Russian measures at the summit. This was announced by the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, his response published in the Telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic mission.

“On the eve of the NATO summit, the atmosphere in the US information field became as tense as possible. Everything is being done to prepare local public opinion for the approval of any anti-Russian decisions that will be made in Vilnius in the coming days,” he said.

Antonov also noted that the measures taken by NATO member countries create additional obstacles that prevent relations between Russia and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance from getting out of the military-political crisis. According to Antonov, this could lead to “the most serious consequences for international security.”

The NATO summit will be held from 11 to 12 July in Vilnius. It is expected that during this event a number of important decisions will be made, including the discussion of Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

After the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions joined Russia in the fall of 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv would apply to join NATO in an expedited manner. On July 4 of this year, Zelensky acknowledged that the admission of Ukraine to NATO is impossible while hostilities continue on its territory.
