Russia will study the decision of the Dutch court in the case of the Boeing crash in 2014 in the Donbass, Ivan Nechaev, deputy director of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on Thursday.
“We will study this decision, because in all these issues every nuance matters,” the diplomat said (quote according to TASS).
Earlier today, a court in The Hague determined that flight MH17 was shot down by a Buk air defense system from a field near Pervomaisky. “The court is of the opinion that the Boeing crashed while launching a missile from the Buk air defense system from a field near the village of Pervomaisky,” Judge Hendrik Steinhuis announced.
In addition, the court stated that the Buk from which MH17 was shot down was allegedly brought from Russia to Ukraine, and then taken back. It is impossible to establish the actions of the SAM crew, and it is also unclear who gave the command to launch the rocket, the judge added.
Boeing 777 of Malaysian Airlines, following flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed on July 17, 2014 in the Donetsk region. There were 298 people on board, all of them died. The Netherlands accused three Russians and a Ukrainian of involvement in the downing of MH17. This is one of the former leaders of the Donbass militia, Russian Igor Girkin (Strelkov), who then served as Minister of Defense of the DPR, and three of his subordinates – Russian citizens Sergey Dubinsky and Oleg Pulatov, as well as Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko. All four are tried in absentia, they deny guilt.
Investigators believe that the liner was shot down by representatives of the DPR militia from the Buk. At the same time, the Netherlands argue that it is Russia that is responsible for the deaths of people, which has repeatedly denied these accusations. The Netherlands during the investigation refused to take into account the data of Russia, according to which the missile that shot down the plane was launched from the Ukrainian Buk air defense system from the territory controlled by Ukraine. In addition, as the Russian Foreign Ministry stated, it was the non-closure of Ukrainian airspace that led to the MH17 flight crash.
