Russia will offer to involve independent lawyers in the investigation of the Nord Stream explosions, RIA Novosti reports citing a UN source.

As reported, the corresponding proposals were formulated in the draft Russian resolution, circulated earlier in the UN Security Council. She calls for the urgent establishment of a commission to investigate the explosions at Nord Stream.

The purpose of the investigation will be a comprehensive and impartial international investigation, as well as the identification of performers, sponsors, organizers and accomplices.

According to the resolution, the UN Secretary General will be able to select lawyers to participate in the commission and report the details of the work of the commission to the UN Security Council.

The resolution condemns the sabotage, and also mentions Washington’s threats against Nord Stream.

On September 26, there was a leak on one of the lines of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark. The operating company Nord Stream AG reported a pressure drop on both lines of Nord Stream. Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov, speaking via video link at a meeting of the UN Security Council, said that the company is currently looking for options to restore the Nord Stream system, but the time frame for restoring the system to work cannot be estimated at the moment.

Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia would definitely identify all those involved in the sabotage against the Nord Stream, and ordinary terrorists are not capable of an action of such complexity and scale. The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation initiated the initiation of a case on an act of international terrorism. As Reuters reported, a few hours after the explosion on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, a US Navy P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft flew near the place of sabotage.
