Russia will not recognize Ukraine as a “state sponsor of terrorism”

Moscow will not recognize Ukraine as a “state sponsor of terrorism” against the background of the corresponding assessment set out in the resolution of the European Parliament, the comments Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Oleg Syromolotov.

The diplomat noted that Kyiv, during the NWO, committed egregious violations of international humanitarian law, but Russia still opposes the doctrine of “state terrorism”, which is exploited by “some unscrupulous states” to justify their interference in the affairs of other countries, in particular, to introduce unilateral coercive measures. Syromolotov emphasized that only the UN Security Council has the exclusive right to impose coercive measures against a sovereign state.

At the same time, only specific individuals can be subjects of terrorism, he noted, therefore, the adoption by Russia of such a resolution in relation to Kyiv would be legally null and void and would demonstrate that Moscow is being led by unfriendly countries.

“Based on this, we believe that it would be wrong to follow someone else’s anti-legal approaches. We will not be like violators of international law,” Syromolotov concluded.

The very same resolution of the European Parliament, the diplomat called an element of “custom-made information and political campaign conducted by the West against Russia.” This has nothing to do with the real fight against terrorism, in which Russia has always responsibly participated, he stressed.

“If individual countries or the European Parliament want to look for real terrorists, then we suggest taking a closer look and understanding more deeply what happened not so long ago in the Baltic and Black Seas, and not participate in the parade of sham resolutions,” Syromolotov added.

November 23 European Parliament accepted resolution recognizing Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism”. The document, which is advisory in nature and has no legal force, was supported by 494 MEPs, 58 voted against, and 44 abstained. Russia in the document is accused of “delivering strikes on Ukraine in violation of international law.”

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, then proposed to recognize the European Parliament as a “sponsor of idiocy.” Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov refused to comment on the resolution, stating that for all sane people “everything is obvious”, and he does not have a “medical education” for this.
