Russia took first place in foreign investment in Iran – Kommersant

At the end of 2023, Russia took first place in foreign investment in Iran, said Ambassador to Tehran Alexey Dedov. According to him, this illustrates the real level of relations between the two countries.

“Russian energy companies are successfully operating in the Iranian market, and Russia took first place in foreign investment in Iran last year,” Mr. Dedov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Russia was among the leaders among foreign investors in Iran in 2022. In December 2023, Vladimir Putin received his Iranian colleague Ibrahim Raisi in Moscow, their negotiations lasted almost five hours. President of the Russian Federation statedthat the trade turnover between the Russian Federation and Iran has reached almost $5 billion.

Last year, against the backdrop of investors from developed countries leaving Russia, CMACP experts tried to assess the prospects for its investment cooperation with developing countries. Ethiopia, Argentina, Iran, and Saudi Arabia were named as the most attractive partners for the Russian Federation.
