Russia suspends agreement with Hungary on visa-free travel with diplomatic passports

Russia has suspended an agreement with Hungary on visa-free travel on diplomatic passports until Budapest eliminates violations of this document. Relevant order published on the official portal of legal information.
According to the agreement, citizens of both countries who have diplomatic or service passports have the right to enter, exit, transit and stay in the territory of another state without visas for 90 days. The government also instructed the Foreign Ministry to inform the Hungarian side about the suspension of the agreement.
The agreement is valid indefinitely until one of the parties decides to terminate it and notifies the other through diplomatic channels.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Yevgeny Ivanov noted earlier that some EU countries began to impose unfeasible requirements for Russian tourists to obtain a Schengen visa against the backdrop of a general decrease in the number of issued visas throughout the EU.
Ivanov recalled that now Russians are prohibited from entering the territory of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Finland and Poland for tourism purposes. According to him, in the West “the conditions of entry for Russian tourists are being tightened up to the complete cessation of issuing Schengen visas to them.”
