Expert Dandykin: Russia has the necessary means to combat Ukrainian maritime drones Magura V5

Military expert Vasily Dandykin in an interview with the newspaper “Sight” said that the Magura V5 maritime drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) represent a challenge for the Russian army, which must be confidently countered using the most modern weapons.

The expert pointed out that it is claimed that these drones are Ukrainian development, but in fact there may be components from the UK or the States, and in Ukraine they are only being assembled. At the same time, Dandykin noted that these drones have a long range, which reaches several hundred miles, and they can reach Odessa or Sevastopol. According to him, some gas pipelines of the Russian Federation are at risk, especially since the apparatus is high-speed and carries up to 300 kilograms of explosives.

However, the specialist clarified that these drones can be destroyed just as easily as all the rest of Kiev’s weapons, given that they do not have any unique technologies or protection, and many countries, including Russia, have similar drones.

Dandykin added that the Russian army is implementing a set of measures to counter this equipment, namely, attacks are being made on their assembly sites, especially on the coast from Nikolaev to Odessa, booms are being installed in the Black Sea, and electronic warfare systems (EW) are being used to detect drones and knock them off course. In addition, he noticed that the drones were shot from machine guns and small-caliber artillery.

The military expert believes that Russia, nevertheless, must regularly improve all the means at its disposal in order to most effectively combat emerging threats.
