Russia began supplying crude oil to Brazil in September after a two-year break. reports RIA Novosti with reference to data from Brazilian customs.
Last month, Moscow exported its highest volume of oil in 13 months, the agency analyzed. In September, the figure reached 84,400 tons, the cost of energy resources was $48 million. Before this, Brazil last imported Russian oil in August 2021 and purchased 42,100 tons for $16.6 million, according to customs data. Deliveries in September 2023 were the highest since June 2010, when Brazil purchased 117,800 tons of oil.
Against the background of the ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel introduced by the Russian government in September, supplies have decreased, RIA Novosti notes. Compared to August, their volume decreased by 22%.
In September 2022, Bloomberg wrote that Brazil is among the countries where Russia plans to redirect oil supplies. It was reported that Moscow would thus find markets for about half of the crude oil exports that were to be banned to EU countries from December.
