Head of SJR: banning Solovyov’s broadcasts in Armenia is a violation of freedom of speech

The decision of the Armenian authorities to ban the broadcasting of the programs “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” and “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” in the country is a violation of freedom of speech. Such a statement in a conversation with NEWS.ru expressed by the head of the Union of Journalists of Russia (SJR) Vladimir Solovyov.

According to him, a large number of residents of Armenia know Russian and are accustomed to listening to Russian broadcasts.

“Banning even individual programs would be a real violation of the declared freedom of speech and freedom of dissemination of information,” Solovyov said.

He emphasized that Yerevan has repeatedly tried to stop broadcasting Russian television channels and radio stations in the country.

Let us recall that the day before the Armenian authorities decided to ban the broadcast of TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov’s programs in the country.
