Russia recorded the highest inflow of funds from private investors to brokerage accounts since the end of 2021

The volume of assets of retail investors on brokerage accounts placed with brokers reached RUB 7 trillion in the first quarter of 2023. For the quarter, they grew by 17%, according to published Central Bank “Overview of key indicators of professional participants in the securities market”. Of this amount, about 6.3 trillion rubles. accounted for securities and 0.6 trillion rubles – for cash in rubles and foreign currency. According to the largest brokers, the quarterly net inflow of funds to the brokerage accounts of individuals was the highest since the end of 2021 and amounted to 285 billion rubles.

Against the backdrop of growth in the client base of brokers and an increase in net contributions to brokerage accounts, the average portfolio size also increased from 1.3 million to 1.4 million rubles.
