Russia ranks 45th in the world in terms of annual inflation

Annual inflation in September was highest in Zimbabwe, Lebanon, Venezuela and Sudan, while Russia took 45th place in this list, follows from the calculations. “RIA News”. The Agency conducted a study based on data from the national statistical offices of 193 countries.

The final sample included 155 states that disclosed data for September by mid-November. The review was done in seven regions of the world: Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, Oceania, South and North America.

The highest inflation in the world (and in sub-Saharan Africa) was registered in Zimbabwe – 280.4%. The agency notes that it began to accelerate from the end of winter and accelerated by 4.6 times by September. Sudan ranked second in the region and fourth globally with 107%, while Ghana was third in sub-Saharan Africa with an inflation rate of 37.2%.

Lebanon ranked second in the world and first among the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, where inflation was 162.47%. The agency notes that since the beginning of the year it has slowed down by 1.4 times. In addition, in this region, significant price growth rates were recorded in Turkey – 83.5%, as well as in Egypt – 15.02%.

In South America, Venezuela ranks first in terms of annual inflation. With an indicator of 157.4%, it ranks third in the world, although inflation there has slowed down by 4.4 times since the end of last year. In second place in South America is Argentina, where price growth accelerated to 83% in early autumn, and Suriname is in third with a figure of 41.4%.

In North America, Cuba led the way with 37.24% inflation, followed by Nicaragua at 11.52% and Costa Rica at 10.37%.

The highest inflation rate on the European continent was registered in Moldova – 34%. In second place is Ukraine with 24.6%, in third place is Lithuania with 24.1%.

In Asia, prices increased the most in September in Sri Lanka – 73.7%, Laos – 34% and Pakistan – 23.2%. Among the states of Oceania, inflation is highest in the Kingdom of Tonga – 14%.

Russia, with an indicator of 13.7%, is in 45th place in the global inflation rating. Its neighbors in the rating were Chile – also 13.7% and Mongolia – 13.8%.

The Ministry of Economics earlier predicted inflation by the end of the year at 12.4%. A year earlier, this figure was 8.4%. It is assumed that in 2023 consumer price growth will be at the level of 5.5%, and in the future it will reach the target level of 4%. According to the results of this year, the country’s economy will contract by 2.9%, the Ministry of Economics expects, and in 2023 – already by 0.8%. In subsequent years, GDP growth is expected to be 2.6% per year.
