Russia may introduce mandatory registration of mobile devices

Senator Sheikin proposed introducing mandatory registration of mobile devices by activating a SIM card

Member of the Federation Council Artem Sheikin said that he approached Roskomnadzor with a proposal to establish mandatory registration of mobile devices in the networks of cellular operators.

Sheikin suggested that registration can be carried out by the subscriber providing the operator with a unique serial number of the device on which the SIM card is planned to be used.

Control over the activation of SIM cards would make it possible to combat the problem of the “gray” market of SIM cards in Russia,
