The Rubin Central Design Bureau is working on several concepts for strategic nuclear submarines. This was announced by Deputy General Director of the enterprise Andrey Baranov. According to him, the Arcturus concept presented earlier is not the only one; there are others, more traditional. Moreover, the submarines themselves, manufactured according to this project, can enter the fleet only in the second half of the century.
“The Arcturus concept is not the only one possible; there are more traditional ones in the medium term. We offer options, the fleet evaluates and selects the best. This is how all the nuclear submarines known to you appeared, including the most modern ones,” said the deputy general director of Rubin. “RIA News”.
Rubin is Russia’s main developer of nuclear-powered strategic and non-nuclear submarines, as well as naval drones. The company presented a concept model of the next generation strategic nuclear submarine Arcturus at the Army 2022 exhibition.
Rubin director Igor Vilnit said earlier that new strategic nuclear submarines will replace the Borei series submarine cruisers after 2037. According to the director of the enterprise, in the future, nuclear boats will be reduced in size, but weapons and drones will be placed on them “to the maximum.”
